The NCRA/ANREC is thrilled to be working with La Fondation canadienne pour
le dialogue des cultures for the 20th anniversary of Rendez-vous de la
Francophonie, the annual celebration of Canada's membership in the
Francophonie and promotes the French language and its numerous cultural
expressions.
22 NCRA/ANREC member station have been involved in producing and are to
air a marathon day of programming on March 20th. The stations participating
will air ten hours consisting of twenty 28-minute documentaries between 8am-
10pm local time focusing on three main themes for 2018:
1. Education (Kindergarten to Post-Secondary).
2. Economic Partnerships (Focusing on Youth Entrepreneurship).
3. Cultural Hubs (Creative Spaces for Bilingual and OLMC community
space).
“We have been thrilled to be a part of this amazing celebration of Francophone spirt
across the country for the past four years. Celebrating 20 years is a milestone
accomplishment and to have stations participating from all across the country shows the
importance that Francophone culture and diversity has in our local communities” says
Barry Rooke, Executive Director of the NCRA/ANREC.
“From the beginning, Cortes Community Radio has attempted to provide a platform for
the concerns, interests, and talents of the Northern Gulf Islands. This goal is enshrined
in our constitution, where it specifically states that we are to provide minorities and
groups within the community an opportunity to communicate. Thus we are now in the
second year of our partnership with the Klahoose First nation, to produce the Deep Roots
Initiative, and are participating in the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie program
again this year,” says Roy L Hales, President Cortes Community Radio, CKTZ 89.5 FM.
