[Following up to the Station Manager's Summit]
Nice seeing you all on Saturday. I realized I provided some incorrect info in response to one of the questions, so I'm writing to let you know.
The question was about whether radio stations fall within federal or provincial jurisdiction. I said that employees with duties related to broadcasting would be federal and others would be provincial. One example given of an employee falling under provincial jurisdiction was a bookkeeper.
Although that may be technically correct, in practice it's exceedingly rare to split up a single workplace into more than one jurisdiction. So if the bulk of employees at a given workplace are federal, then the entire workplace is considered federal. That means all employees of radio stations fall under federal jurisdiction regardless of their duties, and the Canada Labour Code would apply to them all.
